Induction & Orientation

Induction/Orientation training is designed to familiarize a new employee or contractor about the company’s safety systems, rules and procedures. It should be done when the inductee is going through their familiarization process, where each element of the information process is communicated and understood so as to achieved a successful integration into the company.
The induction training process must be specific to the host company’s needs, and must be constantly reviewed to ensure that each new employee is totally familiar with the company’s policies, procedures, rules and other company specific training needs.
Some shared general information to consider in the training is;
The Company OHS policy and procedures,
Roles and responsibilities within the company structure,
Hazard identification and control,
Hazardous material registers and MSDS
Accident, Incident and Hazard forms
The use of Personal Protective Equipment

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this training, persons should be able to:

Know the reasons and importance of induction/orientation training.
Know the key personnel in the workplace, and be familiar with the safety rules.
Understand their legal duty to apply the provided information to risk and safe systems at work.
Apply the training to carry out a task in a safe manner.
Apply the knowledge from the training to ensure they are familiar with the signage, and identify the hazards and risk associated with their employment.
Know and respond appropriately with accidents and emergencies
